Partial Dentures

Candidates for partial dentures are those people who have some of their natural teeth remaining, with gaps between them where teeth are missing. A partial denture is a removable appliance made of acrylic and metal that rests on the gums and remaining teeth and is used to fill the spaces between the natural teeth with replacement teeth. Generally a partial will have one or more clasps to prevent dislodgement during function. Not only is it important to replace missing teeth for aesthetics but also to prevent the remaining teeth from shifting or being damaged due to an imbalance of biting force.
